PRIVACY
Your data and choices.
Your question and up to six recent conversation turns are used to create the response you request. Questions and answers are not automatically copied into your journal.
Questions and generated responses
When you ask a question, it is sent to our protected Cloudflare Worker and to xAI’s AI service to answer from a biblical perspective. Web search may retrieve relevant public sources. Search queries are instructed to describe the biblical or historical issue without personal names or private circumstances. Optional usage measurement is off until you allow it using the controls at the bottom of any page. If allowed, it records event names, the matched topic, a coarse referral source, random browser/session identifiers, and server timestamps. It does not include your question, journal text, email, or account identifier.
“Chat is not saved” means Daily Psalms does not automatically save the conversation to your account or journal. It does not mean that processing is entirely on-device or that providers retain nothing. Our Worker does not log your prompt or response content. Ask uses xAI with response storage disabled; xAI and its search providers process the request under their privacy policy and terms. Disabling response storage is not a promise of zero provider retention. We do not promise zero retention or that all provider processing can be erased through account deletion. Avoid sending confidential information.
Saved reflections and older journeys
If you sign in and save a reflection, Daily Psalms stores your journal text, date, mood score, and an optional practice prompt under your account. Signed-in reflections use the same journal on web and mobile. Saved journeys may contain the question, response, journal entry, topic, and source-pack version you explicitly chose to save. Accounts from the retired backend are not imported into this fresh-start service. You do not need to save a reflection to use Ask.
Accounts and free access
You sign in on web and mobile using an eight-digit code sent to your email through Cloudflare Email Sending, or an existing account password. Password credentials are stored as secure hashes. Mobile also supports local guest use. Better Auth manages sign-in sessions inside our Cloudflare Worker. Cloudflare D1 stores account data and explicitly saved reflections. The app is free, with three Ask responses per day. Paid billing is disabled; no payment card information is collected. Mobile guest journals stay on-device. Signed-in mobile journals, favorites, and reading progress are stored under your account. You can delete your account in the mobile Account screen, use the web deletion page, or request deletion through the contact below.
Local storage
Unsaved web conversation messages remain in memory until you leave the page or start a new conversation. Mobile may store guest journal entries, preferences, and sign-in state on-device. If you allow measurement, it also stores a random browser identifier for up to 30 days and a per-tab session identifier. Choose “No thanks” at the bottom of any page to stop future measurement and remove these identifiers from your browser. Previously received events are not deleted by this choice; contact us with privacy questions. Clearing browser storage removes these preferences, but server-side fair-use limits still apply.
Mobile diagnostics and verification
The app keeps technical error handling on-device; this release does not include a third-party crash-reporting SDK. Cloudflare processes network and request metadata to operate the service. We do not attach journal or question content to error logs.
Cloudflare Turnstile verifies sign-in-code requests and guest Ask/report requests to prevent abuse. It processes verification tokens and technical browser/device metadata. Signed-in requests use verified email sessions, rate limits, and daily quotas. These checks are separate from optional website usage measurement.
Safety and sensitive information
Reflections and questions can reveal religious or philosophical beliefs and personal emotional or health information. Only share what you are comfortable having processed by the services described above. Signed-in journal entries and mood check-ins are stored with your account. Local guest journals stay on-device until you sign in, when existing guest data is synchronized to your account.
If you explicitly report an Ask response, we store the selected answer, topic, reason, and time in developer-only report storage to improve safety and accuracy. Your question and journal are not included. An answer can still contain personal details you shared, so review it before sending. Reports do not contain your email or account identifier; a daily hashed identifier is used separately to limit report abuse.
Do not include information you do not want processed, such as full legal names, account numbers, detailed medical records, or another person’s confidential information. Daily Psalms is not an emergency, medical, or mental health service.
Contact
Daily Psalms is for adults aged 18 or older. The mobile app stores an age confirmation on your device; the interactive website stores it for the current browser tab. We do not request or store your date of birth. Ask requests include your declaration that you are an adult; this is not identity verification.
